A woman at night. A vocal ritual. An invocation. And then to rest.

Where does our mind go when we cannot sleep? Wanderings through history and science, song and myth. Based on the story of Philomela, Sominium offers audiences a merging of music, image and body exploring the voice and the voiceless. Two steps forward, one step back and around we go again.

. With new music from Brú Associate Artist Julianna Bloodgood [Ologón], and co-created by James Riordan in collaboration with theatre maker Philippa Hambly [Cleite] and visual artist Jane Cassidy, Somnium questions what we might be missing, what’s to be released and what might be restored.
